Yes. (How’s that for short and sweet?)
I use social network sites like Biznik, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and I always (ahem) nag my clients do the same. Why? Here’s what social networking has brought me in 3 days:
I met K., a Power Chick and web designer, online. We emailed a few times and then agreed to chat over coffee. Now, we’ve decided to swap services: I’ll write for her website; she’ll spruce up this humble site. We gathered, by the way, at a shop owned by another Power Chick–which helped her grow her business.
J., a pumped-up (literally) Power Chick and personal trainer, is expanding into motivational speaking, online coaching and more. Lucky me, she needs help with her marketing. Yah – what a fun client!
C., a super-talented photographer, wants help finding fun, fame and fortune with her two businesses. I can’t wait to get started on her marketing plan.
I just got off the phone with a career counselor who’s launching a coaching business; she found a blog post I wrote over at CRAVEbusiness.
C. requested to interview me on how social networking has helped me grow my business. And as you can see – it has indeed helped!
Tell me – how do you use social networking?

Great to share resouces. What about paying clients…? I find my efforts in the social networking world brings a lot of requests for free advice and eventually the business follows. Requires daily consistent and steadfast attention to my brand in other media as well as e-news, ads, personal networking. People like working with people they feel attuned with and trust.
Yep, I agree – social networking can lead to lots of “giveaways.” I try to balance being helpful to others yet also smart about building my own business and income. I must say, lately, social networking is yielding a lot more paying clients than those just seeking free advice. Maybe I’ve reached a tipping point?
Susan, thanks for writing. Your logo and tagline are so evocative, by the way. Nice job!
